Weymouth, Dorset: The UK Seaside Destination of Choice

Waterside Holiday Group has three holiday parks located in the heart of Weymouth, Dorset; an ideal base for those hoping to catch all the Dorset-based sporting action this summer, as well as to take in the natural, historical and cultural highlights of the region.
As host town to the forthcoming Olympic sailing events, which start in just over one month's time (29 July - 11 August), Weymouth has become the seaside destination of choice in the UK this summer. Waterside Holiday Group has had a busy spring and summer season so far, and experienced significant demand for holidays during the period of the sailing events, while remaining loyal to its existing customers by offering them a chance to book early.

A new attraction, the Weymouth SEA LIFE Tower, opens this week (22 June), providing panoramic views of Weymouth Bay, Portland and the Jurassic Coast from 53 metres above the resort. New dining establishments are also opening up throughout the town.
The Olympic torch will also travel through Dorset from 12 - 14 July. A celebratory evening event complete with fireworks and family-friendly activities will be held in Weymouth on Thursday 12 July after the torch arrives in the town, then it will travel through Weymouth on 13 July en-route to London ahead of the Games.
Other events such as the ‘Spirit of the Sea: Weymouth & Portland Maritime Festival' (30 June - 15 July), a two week-long event of sport, cultural events and spectacular carnival procession, provide further appeal. This event also coincides with the 5th annual ‘Dorset Seafood Festival', complete with food stalls, demonstrations from celebrity chefs, culinary competitions, local ales and the finest local seafood. ‘Maritime Mix 2012', Dorset's largest creative celebration of the year, also features over 80 creative events across Weymouth and Portland throughout the summer.
