An Ayr GP practice is now providing services from a newly built, state-of-the-art centre at 148 Dalmellington Road, Ayr. Bankfield Medical Practice opened its doors to patients on Monday 10 November.

Staff prepare to welcome patients to the new surgery (from left): Tracey Dunlop, receptionist; Fiona Henry, Sapphire Scotland Manager; Isobel Yates, receptionist; Dr David Stevenson; Gail Dunlop, Practice Business Manager; Dr Alisha Dosumu; Fiona Haggo, Practice Manager; Carol Eyley, receptionist.
The practice's two GPs, Drs David Stevenson and Alisha Dosumu, will be joined later this month by pharmacy colleagues, when the attached pharmacy opens on Monday 24 November.
Before then, however, members of the public get the chance to tour the facility at an Open Day taking place on Saturday 22 November from 2pm to 4pm.
Dr Stevenson commented: "All the team are looking forward to welcoming our patients to this superb new centre. We're sure they will share our enthusiasm if they come along to the Open Day to see the facilities for themselves."
Paul Ardin, Director of Primary Care Development - NHS Ayrshire & Arran, added: "We are delighted to see this project come to fruition. The centre is at the cutting edge of primary care developments and will benefit patients, staff and the local community."
Dr Stevenson and Dr Dosumu previously practiced from premises at Cornhill Surgery and at Alloway Place.
Bankfield Medical Practice has been developed by Sapphire Primary Care Developments, the healthcare development arm of Lloydspharmacy. Sapphire is one of the UK's leading specialists in developing primary care premises.
Sapphire's Scotland manager, Fiona Henry, commented: "Sapphire is extremely proud to deliver its latest primary care centre, which will support the delivery of patient care to the Ayr community. The new centre is the result of a successful partnership between NHS Ayrshire & Arran, Drs Stevenson and Dosumu, Sapphire and Lloyds Pharmacy."
