Event: Biggleswade & District Choral Society
Spring Concert 2012
Date: 24 March

Time: 7.30 pm
Location: All Saints Church, Clifton, SG17 5EL
The choir will be singing:
Fauré's ‘Requiem'. Even if you think you don't know Fauré's Requiem you almost certainly have heard bits of it on many occasions. Extracts are used regularly in film and TV: the piece In Paradisum was the calm, ethereal music in the chapel when Inspector Morse collapsed in the last episode; and if you've listened to Charlotte Church you've probably heard her sing the beautiful Pie Jesu. These and other pieces have featured in Emmerdale, South Park and Wallander as well as in the Sam Mendes film American Beauty and many others.
‘Feel the Spirit' by John Rutter. A gorgeous setting of 7 well-known spirituals. If you are already familiar with some of Rutter's work, it's a bit different, including rich, reflective versions of Steal Away and Deep River, and lively, up-tempo arrangements of Joshua fit the Battle of Jericho and When the Saints Go Marching In.
Tickets: £8 (under 12s free). Available from: Archie on 01767 312966, Val on 01462 700462 or Cambridge Coins, 52 High Street, Biggleswade.
