Cash Box Robbers Jailed

Author: South Beds News Agency Published: 18th January 2012 15:58

Cash Box Robbers Jailed Cash Box Robbers Jailed A gang of robbers from London came to Bedford three times to steal cash boxes from security guards making deliveries.

Four men were all jailed at Luton Crown Court on 13 January for their parts in the conspiracy.

Before the court were the ring leader, Brian Decktor, 23 who admitted three charges of conspiracy to rob; Moses Adeyemi, 21, Valdo Araujo, 20 and Kestrel Dyer, 22 who all admitted one charge of conspiracy to rob.

Decktor, from Raydons Road, Dagenham was given a three year sentence to run consecutively to a six year sentence he was given last year for a similar snatch in East Ham. The Judge said he is effectively serving a nine year sentence for his criminality.

Araujo, of Union Road, Romford and Adeyemi, of Stokes Road, East Ham, were both jailed for three and a half years and Dyer, of Bosworth Road, Walthamstow was given a 30 month sentence.

But out of the three robberies, there was only one occasion when they got away with a large amount of money. Another time the guard was carrying a dummy box as he thought he was being followed and at the third they grabbed a box containing coins and left without another containing almost £20,000.

Judge Richard Foster commended a member of the public, John Mullen, who had followed a getaway car and given police the registration number.

Prosecutor, Andrew Copeland, said the first raid was on May 4 2010. Group 4 were making a delivery to Barclay's Bank in Bedford and had parked in Lurke Street. The guard making the delivery was punched and kicked by two men who snatched the box he was carrying which contained £21,500. It was that raid where the getaway car was followed and later recovered by police.

Three weeks later on 25 May 2010 another delivery was being made to the same bank and the guard on that occasion was also attacked in Lurke Street, but he was carrying a dummy box. On July 15 the same year another Group 4 security van was making a collection from a service station in London Road, Bedford. On the way back to his van he was approached by three males who attempted to wrestle the cash boxes from him.

They managed to grab one, which contained about £800 in coins, but left the other behind containing almost £20,000.

Mr. Copeland said Decktor was the controller, but never took a physical part in the robberies. The others were either 'snatchers', getaway drivers or look outs, recruited by him.

Judge Foster said: "The robberies were all of a similar nature. They were sophisticated and well organised and you were working as a group. Decktor, you were the ring leader and orchestrator.
