A Reading man has been convicted of two incidents of leaving a restaurant without paying.
Michael Kilbane, aged 23, from Willow Street, Reading, ran up bills of more than £100 at the Kathmandhu Kitchen and Khukuri restaurants on May 11 and 12 and then left without paying.
He appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Monday (6/10), where he pleaded guilty to two counts of making off without payment, and was fined more than £500.
PC Betsy North, who investigated the incidents, said: "I hope this case acts as a warning to other people who might be tempted to eat at restaurants and then run off before paying.
"This shows that we take these types of incidents seriously and that we are determined bring the offenders to justice."
