They ran a fitness session and all children at the school received free tickets to a Rockets match.

Also on Tuesday, The Avenue Centre, in Tilehurst, host the first meeting of a new Parents' Forum on School Meals, which will run from 6pm to 8.30pm. The aim is to create a group who can represent the views of parents across Reading on issues about school meals.

Guest speaker at this event will be leading school food expert Lindsay Graham.

On Wednesday, the Mayor and Mayoress visited EP Collier Primary for a special school meals celebration, which include a special menu, a range of fun activities, goodie bags and prizes. On Friday, they went at Wilson Primary for a similar event and the Mayor presented a new school dining table to the school for their work on promoting school meals and healthy eating.

Across all Reading primary schools, Wednesday is "school meals winsday" with goodie bags at each site and meals reduced from £1.70 to £1.50.

Jon Hartley, Lead Councillor for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: "Healthy, nutritious school meals can make a real difference to a child's wellbeing and achievements. It is great to see the vital importance of school meals being celebrated in this way, and here in Reading we have plenty to celebrate, as our school meals service continues to set the national pace."
