The Hill is a good school in Caversham

The Hill Primary School is celebrating after being rated 'good', with some outstanding areas, by Ofsted inspectors.

Inspectors who visited the school in September said: "This is a good school with many strengths and most parents and carers are very happy with the quality of care and education. One [parent] expressed the views of many with the comment that it is 'An exceptional primary school from all points of view'."
Among the strengths the inspectors noted were:
- Children make good progress in the foundation stage because of good teaching
- Many children achieve standards well above the national average in Key Stage 2 English, maths and science
- Pastoral care and support are excellent aspects of the school's provision and pupils have a positive attitude to learning
- The school is a happy, inclusive place where children feel safe and valued
- There is exceptionally good care, guidance and support
- Teaching is good with some outstanding
- The curriculum is good
- The school is well-led and managed at all levels
- Leaders and managers are committed to ensuring the school provides high quality care and education

Headteacher Wil Lambert said: "We have exceptional children and believe that they deserve the best. I am absolutely delighted that everyone's endeavour has been recognised and commended. We are all thrilled with the very complimentary report from the Ofsted Inspectors."
Chair of Governors Dr Alison Ries said: "The report is full of glowing, positive comments in all areas and the judgements are all good or outstanding. This clearly demonstrates the hard work and dedication of the staff that has gone into making The Hill such a successful school."
Jon Hartley, Lead Councillor for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: "Ofsted is saying what everyone in the school's local community knows - that families and their children are very happy to be at The Hill. All involved at the school deserve the plaudits in this report."
