The Little Green Earthlets have arrived

Published: 31st October 2008 19:38

Avril Davis local councillor for Ivinghoe, and David Carroll, Lead Spokesperson for Waste, today cut the washing line to officially open Little Green Earthlets.

Avril Davis cuts the washing lineThe shop is the first of its type to open in Buckinghamshire, and is being encouraged by Bucks County Council as part of their waste reduction appeal.  They want to raise awareness of the waste and ecological issues surrounding the use of nappies, and that is the very area Little Green Earthlets major on.

Michelle and Mike RileyOwners Michelle and Mike Riley have a variety of demonstration nappies and have library kits of real nappies, where parents can borrow nappies to try out at home for free (small returnable deposit required). The couple emphasise that, "you don't have to be an "eco-warrior" to use 'real nappies', every family can benefit. The information is totally free and the nappies won't "cost the earth" either!"

Mike Riley told us, "Our cusomers are looking for economic, eco-friendly prodcuts that are healthy for their children.  A natural nappy gives natural comfort and naturally lasts longer than disposables"

Plenty of stock on offerCouncillor Martin Tett, Chairman for the Joint Waste Committee for Buckinghamshire said, "It's great to have Little Green Earthlets open in the county. This will support Buckinghamshire's Real Nappy Initiative which aims to provide information and support to parents, allowing them to make an informed decision. Parents considering real nappies can either drop into the shop or get in touch with our real nappy advisors. Please visit www.recycleforbuckinghamshire.co.uk for more information."

There is always expert advice available in the shop and and they happily offer demonstrations of the samples ready to hand.

They also have a range of eco-friendly cleaning products for those who do not use nappies!

We have shown some photos of the shop, but pop in and have a look yourself!

The shop is on Ivinghoe High Street and will be opened Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm for a casual drop in session and a no obligation demonstration of products. Also available are monthly drop in sessions in the evening for dads and mums using real nappies. To support parents even more Little Green Earthlets will be open by appointment at any other time.
