Fundraising in Buckingham
Helen and Douglas House is based in central Oxford and cares for children and Young adults from the surrounding counties including Buckinghamshire and the southern area of Northamptonshire.
Helen House was the world’s first children’s hospice and founded in 1982 by Sister Frances Dominica.
Douglas House opened in 2004 as the world’s first hospice specifically for young adults aged 16-35.
We currently provide one to one care for over 300 children and young adults and also support over 60 bereaved families.
Odette Dawkins speaking to AboutMyArea/NN12 "Our aim is to help every child or young adult that visit us live life to the full and allow them the opportunity to experience things they would not normally have an easy access to such as outings and being with people their own age whilst still receiving the support and specialist care they need.
"Having a child with a life-shortening condition is something most of us will not have to face in our lifetime and many of us cannot imagine what it would be like.
