Stony Stratford have appointed Kiwi, Ian Sandbrook, as their skipper for the 2012 cricket season. Ian joined Stony in May this year after the New Zealand Domestic season but was forced to return home early after a serious injury.
However, he was so impressed with the Club and the Town that he has decided to return here and make Stony his home for a number of seasons.
Club Chairman, Mike Smith commented, "We are absolutely delighted that Ian has agreed to join us. The club has been looking for an experienced skipper as we have a very young side and Ian fits the bill perfectly. Apart from his frist class experience, Ian is a Level 3 coach and is currently Cricket Development Officer for Central Districts, one of the 6 first class teams in New Zealand".
Apart from his cricket, Ian has also played semi professional football and has love of fine New Zealand wines!...
Now that Stony have a skipper in place they hope to make further annoucements regarding their playing squad in the coming months.
