On Monday 9th August Stony Stratford hosted the "Denny Side". This is a Charity Team made up of ex England and County Bowls Presidents plus other notable figures from the bowling world. The green was stretched to 7 rinks for this prestige game. The Stony side was a guest team invited by club chairman Alan Dimmock.
Almost 2 years ago, the then Chairman of Stony Stratford, Stan Jones, was in collision with a car on the Deanshanger Road whilst out walking. He was taken to Coventry Hospital by the Air Ambulance where despite terrible injuries his life was saved. Although confined to a wheelchair, Stan was present to watch Stony beat the Denny Side by over 20 shots.
Along with "Fines" and other Donations, already collected over the last few months, this event enabled a cheque for £2900 to be presented to The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust after the game.
