Volunteers Create Sensory Garden For Charity

A team of volunteers have turned a neglected ‘urban jungle' area into a special sensory garden for a local charity that supports adults with learning disabilities.
Young people from Raleigh International and Capgemini came forward to support MacIntyre to transform the garden at their newly acquired premises in Beanhill.
The volunteers, who usually spend their working days designing and installing technology systems, descended on the centre over a long weekend and left behind a wonderful, purpose-built garden.
Anita Jones, MacIntyre's Head of Service for the Beanhill Learning Centre, says the area is now a very popular feature with the individuals who use the building.
"It's been an excellent partnership project and MacIntyre has gained a valuable resource, which can also be of interest and benefit to the local community," Anita said. "We will all have a lot of pleasure in watching our new garden grow".
Volunteers are still needed to help support the activities at Beanhill Learning Centre. Anyone interested in finding out more should contact the Area Manager, Catherine Warren on 07795 337193 to discuss opportunities.
