The Milton Keynes Wolves Rugby League Team The MK Wolves, the first and only Rugby League team in Milton Keynes, will play their first competitive game when they take on Bedford Tigers this afternoon at the Emerson Valley Sports Pavilion.
Pete Nuttall from MK Wolves told AboutMyArea, "We formed a couple of months ago, and have been recruiting heavily from local players. We've got support and interest from across the country, most notably from England and Wigan rugby league star Sam Tomkins - one of the hottest properties in the sport. He has agreed to become our Honorary President. He was born in the Milton Keynes and was only too happy to lend his support."
The game against Bedford is expected to be hotly contested. Many of MK's players were at Bedford last season. Bedford also finished top of their league last year, just missing out on promotion in the play-offs.
Kick-off is at 2:30pm and admission is free. Everyone is welcome and it would be great to see a few local people there showing their support.
