Laura, who is current World & European Team Pursuit and Omnium Champion, is currently training for Team Pursuit and Omnium at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Parker's Piece is once again the setting for arguably what is Cambridge's largest free to enter family event attracting crowds of over 40,000 -The Cambridge Town & Country Show and organisers Oakleigh Fairs are delighted to announce that this year the show is even bigger than ever and is supported by Cambridge News and the Cambridgeshire Journal.

Charlie Owen, MD of Oakleigh Fairs organisers of the show says ‘We are really looking forward to returning to Parker's Piece this year and  we are particularly pleased that Cambridge Newspapers are once again supporting the event this year. As well as some old favourites we are adding loads of new entertainment to the programme for 2012 - as usual, the event is free to enter - but we are always interested in offers of corporate or other sponsorship!'

With something for everyone, from Horkesley Park's Heavy Horse Demonstration Team, full size and scale Steam Engines, The Amazing Jive Pony, The Goat Show - featuring milking and have a go bottle feeding of lambs and kids, Birds of Prey and Owl displays, Children's Entertainment, Donkey Rides, Swords of Chivalry battle re-enactments and medieval village and Fighting Knights, have a go with the Totally Terriers racing team or try your hand at grooming with the Totally Ponies team, as well as hands-on Cookery, Wine and Beer Tasting demonstrations, as well as a childrens' farm and ferret racing right in the heart of the City.  On Sunday this year we also have the Companion Dog Show - so bring along a canine friend and have a go!  (And all proceeds from entries will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care).

There will also be a glorious display of full and scale model steam engines as well as farm machinery.

The Bike Week team will also be on hand demonstrating and offering help and advice.

And if that's not all - as well as demonstrations of stick furniture making stone masonry and thatching, the children can also have a go at making traditional Corn Dollies as well as other free environmentally friendly activities.  There will also be other rural demonstration skills to enjoy and you can sample and buy in our Arts, Crafts and Gifts marquees as well as Lifestyle and Food Stalls.

So, whatever the weather there will be something for everyone at this two day event. The Deputy Mayor of Cambridge has very kindly agreed to formally open the show at 11am on Saturday.
