Ely Organ Recital with Paul Trepte, Ely Cathedral, 13th August 2017
The 5th in Ely Cathedral's series of 'Sunday Organ Recitals', with Paul Trepte.
Paul Trepte studied with Donald Hunt, Herbert Howells and Nicholas Danby. After an organ scholarship at New College, Oxford, he successively became Assistant Organist at Worcester Cathedral, Director of Music at St. Mary's, Warwick and then Director of Music at St. Edmundsbury Cathedral.
In September 1990, he succeeded Dr Arthur Wills as Organist and Director of Music at Ely Cathedral. Under his direction the choir maintains a busy schedule of services, concerts, recordings and tours - all to critical acclaim.
He has conducted choirs in Leamington and Ipswich and has worked with the Aldeburgh Foundation's Britten-Pears Chamber Choir.
In addition to his main work as a choral/organ music specialist, he composes, lectures and examines (principally for The Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music) whenever he can find time. He has made many recordings and has a number of published and recorded choral works to his credit.
Paul holds Honorary Fellowships from both The Royal School of Church Music and the Guild of Church Musicians.
His prime passion is for choral conducting of any kind and the daily round of Cathedral worship remains his foremost pleasure and concern.
