  • Ely & District Cycling Club in action at two weekend events

    Saturday afternoon saw Ely & District Cycling Club members in action at two different events, at Risby, Bury St Edmunds. It was the West Suffolk Wheelers Hilly 21 mile TT, fastest club riders was Robert Golding who posted a time of 50 minutes and 36 seconds.     Ely RUFC scored a brace of tries but were unable to defeat Cambridge in a hard fought match. They kicked for the corner and set up a maul at the line-out, Ely Tigers were unable to defend it and they dotted down for an unconverted try. They were the only points that half.

    Ely faced Upminster at Downham road, eager to get back to winning ways. Both teams fought hard in the first ten minutes and added a penalty apiece. Upminster played the wide game and it paid off when the ball was shipped to the winger. He darted into the corner and did well to reach out and dot down.
