    Ely played a determined game away and come out on top. Wisbech kicked off and regained the ball, while Ely held them out of their twenty two with a solid defence from the whole team. The heavens opened but this did not stop the Ely attack, they forced their way into the opposition twenty two.

    Members of the Ely and District Cycling Club had their racing disrupted on Saturday by water, both falling from the sky and rising from the ground. Five Ely club members were due to take part in the VTTA time trial race on the E2/10 course near Newmarket, but a sudden downpour during the course of the event meant that Rob Golding didn't finish

    Ely Tigers kept the camped in their twenty-two after Woodbridge had showed a superior start to the. Ely were able to clear their lines and the ball was back and fourth in the fifteen minutes that followed. Woodbridge then broke through a gap in the Tigers' defence and dotted down for an unconverted try.

    On Saturday, four Ely riders took part in the 25 mile Team Velovelocity race on the E/25 course near Newmarket, with every rider beating their personal best for that distance and Mathew Eley setting a new club record for 25 miles with a time of 50:12.     Members of the Ely and District Cycling Club were competing on all three days of the August bank holiday weekend. The racing started early on Saturday morning on the E1/10A course in the Victoria CC event. Nik Banks was the fastest Ely rider at the event with a time of 23:37, with Martin Holmes close behind on a time of 23:47

    Riders from Ely had planned to take part in the time trial race on the course near Newmarket on Saturday, but unfortunately the event had to be cancelled at the last moment.   • Ely Cycling Club set a personal best in adverse conditions

    A total of 8 Ely riders took part in the Kings Lynn Cycling Club event on the B25/33 course on Saturday. On a rather wet day, with conditions being far from optimal, Rob Golding was the fastest Ely rider, with a time of 57:28 meaning Rob set a new course personal best. Rob was followed home by Martin Holmes (59:10), Nik Banks (1:00:08).
