Sedici Chamber Choir
My, what a treat concert goers experienced at the Sedici concert in Thomas a Becket Church in Ramsey on Saturday evening!
The building itself is quite a magnificent example, however it was really brought alive by the performance attended by 40 or so concert goers.
Sedici bill themselves as a ‘choir with a difference' and we were certainly reminded of that as they performed early classical choral delights by Vittoria, Lotti and Tallis, interspersed with reflective and humorous readings.
The performance also included a wind duet of clarinet and saxophone from 2 local musicians from Huntingdonshire Concert Band who are soon to be playing on the Ramsey church green (Sunday July 8th). The saxophone was to be heard again during a unique performance of Abide with Me - a real high point in the concert.
The second half of the concert was lighter in tone and incredibly humorous at times with Old Mother Hubbard, Country Gardens and a rendition of The Long and Winding Road by the Beatles.
Sedici are not only a choir with a difference, but they are an extremely talented group of local singers, ably led by locally-known Pauline Munford who has an extremely unique and visible energy and passion for performance.
The quality of the singing was quite exquisite, incredibly skilful and truly a magical experience thanks to the wonderful acoustic of Thomas a Becket Church. A great start to the reordering project they are undertaking at the church. A wonderful example of LIVE music in our local area - to be supported and continued.
Sedici is a local chamber choir who perform regularly as ‘a choir with a difference'.
Concerts are held mainly in churches, due to the wonderful acoustic. However the music performed spans the full musical spectrum and ranges from early classical ‘sacred' music, to folk, popular and even humorous works that tell a story for a performance.
Sedici's conductor Pauline Munford, is a seasoned musician and has been involved with choirs for over 30 years in the local area. Pauline has an enviously energetic approach to directing unique performances, delivering high-quality concert performances that combine exquisite singing with readings, instrumental interludes and unusual arrangements of well-known choral pieces.
