24 February: Put the Swing Back In Your Step

Author: Donna Rockett, Corporate Project Officer (PR and Events), HDC Published: 2nd February 2012 17:11

Put the Swing Back In Your StepDue to its popularity last year, another Glenn Miller 1940s Dance spectacular will take place at the Burgess Hall in St Ives, with the musical stylings of top trombonist Chris Smith and Britain's number one big band act String of Pearls.

During his professional career, Chris Smith has toured with many international show business legends including Glenn Miller, Tom Jones, Sammy Davis Jnr, Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey and Barbara Streisand.  His talents are of such a high calibre that he has accompanied Frank Sinatra on numerous occasions including his World Tour ‘The Ultimate Event'.

String of Pearls is a 16 piece big band, and Britain's most popular function band with a line-up of dynamic vocalists and a sensational brass section.  They guarantee to bring you fun, excitement and energy.

Now this amazing live music act is jiving its way back to St Ives to bring you a musical blast from the past that will definitely make your Friday evening.  So come along and dance the night away with the Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jitterbug or any other moves that inspire your dancing shoes.  Allied uniforms and period dress are welcome, if not encouraged.

Relive the Swing era on Friday 24 February at the Burgess Hall 7pm to midnight.  Tickets are £15 in advance, and available from One Leisure St Ives on 01480 388500 or visit www.oneleisure.net
