Huntingdon District council offers Distance Learning Courses
| Published: 15th February 2010 12:23 |
Huntingdonshire District Council now offers a new distance learning option as well as the traditional ‘classroom' style course for their food hygiene and health and safety training courses.
The courses are open to anyone working in the food industry, or who is interested in achieving a recognised food, health and safety qualification.
They can be purchased as a self contained training package, enabling students to study in the comfort of their own home or within their workplace. The course is based on an e-learning CD, and the exam can also be taken at home or work, without the need to travel to a study centre. For students preferring the classroom environment, the council also offers a one day course at a council venue. Successful applicants receive a recognised, accredited qualification in food or health and safety.
New distance learning courses offered include the HABC (Highfield awarding body for compliance) Level 2 in Food Safety in Catering and Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace. These courses are in addition to the CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) Level 2 in Food Safety in Catering. Attendees of the CIEH Level 2 in Food Safety in Catering must attend a full days training course at a council venue. The course costs £50 per person which includes all training materials and certificates.
Students who would like to do the distance learning will need access to a computer and a printer. There are some minimum software levels required to run the e-learning CD. For further details and dates contact Julie Fitzsimons. Tel: 01480 388592 or email julie.fitzsimons@huntsdc.gov.uk
