The St Neots Sweeps and Milk Maids
On Saturday 10th May four dance sides assembled on St Neots Market Square to perform as part of The 26th St Neots Folk Festival. The sides were - The St Neots Sweeps and Milkmaids, Haverhill Harlots, The Paxton Polka Dots(a junior side) and the colourful Gog Magog Molly.
A changing crowd enjoyed the variety of dance styles from each group and also the wares on sale in the Farmer's Market. The sides returned to the Square for another display in the afternoon. The weather was superb and many people were taking a lot of pictures!
Following the morning and afternoon displays the sides returned to the Priory centre for refreshments and the Gog Magog Molly side ran a dance workshop to teach one of their dances - great fun!

The Festival was enjoyed by many people who either attended the Friday evening Ceilidh, the Saturday evening Concert, the music sessions, the Sunday Open Stage and guest spot or the whole lot! St Neots Folk Club members ran a cake stall that was very popular and there was a real ale bar throughout the Festival.
Star of the Concert was Martin Simpson who is a brilliant singer guitarist who has won many Radio 2 Folk Awards over the years including two this year! Suntrap went down a storm this year with their new line up and Paul Cherrington and Pamela Ward opened the concert. They appeared again on Sunday along with Tom Bliss a multi-instrumentalist and story teller and singer of narrative songs.
The Festival Committee are now thinking of how we follow this years lineup for next year's Festival!! If anyone wants information about the Club visit the website on http://www.stneotsfolkclub.co.uk/
