Redbridge, Waltham Forest and Newham Council has been
recognised for the Gold Footprint Award for its first class
service, commitment and approach to improving animal
welfare and tackling the issue of stray dogs.
The award is only given to local authorities who clearly demonstrate
they operate an excellent stray dog collection service which
focuses on the animal's welfare. Only eight London Boroughs have
received the Gold Award.
The criteria set for entry at gold level includes procedures which have
to be in place to treat sick and injured stray dogs.
The aim of the award is to recognise and celebrate those who have
made an extra effort and gone beyond basic service requirements
to ensure high standards in services they provide. The winning
Councils have also demonstrated best practice in treating sick and
injured stray dogs efficiently and humanely.
