Hundreds of Brent staff Go Green
| Published: 7th March 2007 09:08 |
Almost 400 Brent Council staff took the pledge at the launch of a campaign to encourage them to do their bit to tackle climate change and be more environmentally friendly.

Brent Council’s Going Green campaign got off to a flying start with a series of roadshows in council buildings last week.
Council Leader Cllr Paul Lorber and Chief Executive Gareth Daniel were among the 362 staff and members to put their names to documents promising they would be more environmentally friendly.
The climate change pledges commit signatories to always switch off computers and lights, reduce and recycle waste, buy greener and locally produced goods, and to use more environmentally-friendly ways of travel - instead of their cars - at least twice a week. Staff also signed up to the new Brent Green Network to receive timely updates on green issues.
Brent Council has set itself the target of reducing its carbon dioxide emissions by 20 per cent by April 2011 and save up to £3m in extra energy costs.
