Make Brent bloomin’ lovelier

It's official – Brent Council and its award winning parks have been nominated to represent the capital in the national Britain in Bloom competition.
And to celebrate nomination, Deputy Mayor of Brent, Cllr Harshadbhai Patel was joined by local children to relaunch the Brent in Bloom competition on Thursday 12 April 2007 at the Green Flag-accredited Gladstone Park.

The competition will reward and encourage those who have worked hardest to brighten up the borough. Prizes are available in each category. This year’s categories include:
best front garden – seasonal planting
best front garden – permanent planting
best container planting eg baskets/tubs window boxes
best business/public premises
best shared gardens
best wildflower garden
and best school garden

Britain in Bloom is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and encourages communities of all sizes to make positive and lasting improvements to their local areas for the benefit of local people.
Britain in Bloom is the largest campaign of its kind in Europe, judging for this prestigious award will take place in August 2007.
