Carlyon Road to Mount Pleasant Bridge Closure Sat 26th May to Friday 8th June 2007

Published: 3rd May 2007 12:10
All users of the above footbridge will have been aware of the extensive rebuilding works that have been taking place over recent months to improve the well used footbridge over the Grand Union Canal.

The first phase of this work was completed last year and provided for the first time ever a direct link with Water Road. This new ramp is currently being used whilst the replacement ramp connecting the bridge with Carlyon Road is being rebuilt. Work has been progressing well on the second ramp and we are now planning for the next stage of the work, the replacement of the existing bridge deck with a new wider version.

There is unfortunately no way of carrying out this work whilst keeping the bridge open. It will therefore be necessary to close the bridge between the above dates. We are aware of the number of people who use this bridge to go to school, to work, or just in their day to day activities, and so for the duration of the closure, we are putting on a shuttle bus service which will operate between 7 am and 7 pm seven days a week. I apologise that we are unable to run this service later in the evening.

Should you have any queries, please contact Brent's contact centre on 0208 937 5050.
