SOS IRB kit aid was started some 4 years ago by the current Chairman John Broadfoot. Initially after a visit by one of his sons to Romania John realised that Children and young players in Romania could play the game of Rugby but had an urgent need for proper rugby kit both for playing and training.
The International Rugby Board soon realised the benefits to Rugby could be enormous and now fully support and work closely with the organisation.
Kit is now collected throughout the 4 home rugby nations with collectors in nearly all areas.
By giving your unused and unwanted kit to children less fortunate than ourselves, you can make a massive difference to the lives of those children and help to recycle items that might be destined for a rubbish tip or landfill site.
We have delivered nearly 10,000 shirts, 8,000 shorts and 3,000 pairs of good quality rugby boots to 7 emerging rugby nation including Romania, Georgia and Moldova all donated freely!
We have now started to deliver to Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Bulgaria where the need for kit is equally desperate. We are taking on 3 new countries in 2006, making 10 in all!! We also have another 32 countries in Europe and Africa on our waiting list!
We are in desperate need for all types of Rugby kit to fit children from 7 to 18 year olds. These could be individual items or whole sets In fact anything that could be used for playing or training for Rugby.
The type of kit we need are rugby boots (CLEAN), rugby shirts/shorts/socks
(Team sets if possible), Training shoes, tackle shields/bags. Track suits/ Sweatshirts, T shirts etc.
Head/body protectors, rugby balls (all sizes)/ ball/boot or kit bags.
So if you, your club school or team have any unused/unwanted kit please get in touch.
