On Sunday 22nd April, 31 young athletes from Brent travelled to Central London and took part in one of the world’s largest sporting events; London Mini Marathon. The adidas Mini London Marathon is run over the last 2.65 miles of the Marathon course from the junction of Southwark Bridge and Upper Thames Street to The Mall, finishing at the very finish line of the main marathon. The day started early, 7am to be exact at Bridge Park Community Leisure Centre. From there the staff and athletes made their way to the venue. Boys and girls were split into 3 age categories; 11-12, 13-14 & 15-17 years old. Colin Jackson and Mohammed Farah greeted the runners on the start line and helped to inspire and motivate them. Everyone involved seemed to have a great day in the glorious sunshine.
