North By North-West Ten is a 60 minute Video Domumentery in which independent, Brent-based, film makers, Richard C Gordon and Denny Mendoza take a look at how life for young black males of their area has changed over the last twenty years. The film examines numerous aspects of these young lives including, how they relate to the various authorities in its different guises, such as the Education System, The Police and The Media. It looks at the devastating result of alienating young people from society, who all to often turn to the underworld to find some form of identity. The film explores a possible way of allowing future generations to have a chance to succeed in life.
With invaluable contributions from various bodies including the young men themselves, The Police, Politicians, Community Leaders and members of the wider community, North By North-West Ten gives a powerful insight into the lives of a certain group of young people from a certain area, but the message is clear that there are young men like them all of over the country, who need a voice to speak up for them. A thought provoking work.
