Paint the town green for St Pat’s

A giant inflatable snake will form part of the parade when thousands of revellers celebrate St Patrick’s Day on Monday 17 March in Willesden Green.
Music, dance and performance events will all be on offer for free as Brent Council marks the biggest day in the Irish community’s calendar.
Among the highlights will be the parade setting off from Willesden Green tube station, High Street, at 4pm to Willesden Green Library Centre. People are invited to join the procession lead by Ireland’s St. Colman’s Pipe Band by bringing their own flag.
St Patrick's Day is celebrated to honour Saint Patrick, Ireland's patron saint. He is best known for driving the snakes from Ireland and to honour this, Brent schools will create a large inflatable snake to be in the parade.
An afternoon and evening of fun Irish entertainment is planned at Willesden Green Library Centre at 95 High Road, including arts, crafts, Irish storytelling and workshops.
Traditional Irish performers will get the crowds singing, dancing and even laughing with a selection of bands, groups and a comedy act.
People can take to the floor and dance the Céilí to the sounds of the Celtic Colleens or listen to the classic sounds of the London Irish Symphony Orchestra.
Mayor of Brent, Councillor Harshadbhai B Patel, says; “It gives me great pleasure to wish everybody a happy St Patrick’s Day.
“Brent is a diverse borough of which ten per cent of people are of Irish descent. Therefore I would ask all Brent residents to come and be part of the celebrations to mark the enormous contribution the Irish community has, and continues to make in shaping Brent.”
St Patrick’s Day events are funded by Brent Council and organised in cooperation with community groups.
