OWING TO UNPRECEDENTED PUBLIC DEMAND
C A L L E D T O A C C O U N T
EXTENDS UNTIL 9 JUNE 2007
Owing to unprecedented public demand, Called to Account, directed by the Tricycle Theatre’s Artistic Director Nicolas Kent, will now run until 9 June. The critically acclaimed show opened on 23 April and has since been playing to packed houses at London’s Tricycle Theatre, known for its award winning Tribunal Plays. Called to Account will also be recorded for BBC Radio. Designs are by Polly Sullivan, Lighting by James Farncombe and Sound by Paul Kizintas. Please note Mark Thomas will now perform his first week of shows on the stage at the 300 seat Tricycle Cinema.
In January and February 2007 two leading barristers and their juniors (from Matrix Chambers): Philippe Sands QC (for the prosecution) assisted by Alison Macdonald and Julian Knowles (for the defence) assisted by Blinne Ni Gralaigh tested the evidence as to whether there would be sufficient grounds to indict the British Prime Minister for the crime of aggression against Iraq. They examined a number of distinguished witnesses, including Members of Parliament, diplomats, international lawyers, civil servants, United Nations officials, policy advisors, Intelligence experts and journalists.
The cast is: David Beames (Scott Ritter), Jeremy Clyde (Ed Mortimer), Ken Drury (Michael Smith), Diane Fletcher (Clare Short), Terrance Hardiman (Bob Marshall Andrews), William Hoyland (Sir Stuart Murray-Smith and Sir Michael Quinlan), Charlotte Lucas (Blinne Ghralaigh), Morven Macbeth (Alison McDonald), David Michaels (Julian Knowles), Roland Oliver (Michael Mates), Raad Rawi (Dr Al-Mufti), Shane Rimmer (Richard Perle), Thomas Wheatley (Phillipe Sands) and James Woolley (Juan Gabriel Valdes).
