London public race up the Gherkin for the NSPCC

The Step Change Challenge - a stair race up London's most iconic building
Hundreds of people raced up the 38 floors of London's most iconic building, the Gherkin on Sunday 7 February for the NSPCC Step Change fundraising event.
While being serenaded by the London Gay Men's Chorus people hoped to raise a minimum of £125,000 for the charity's Child's Voice Appeal.
Colman Cawe, NSPCC corporate fundraising manager said, "I'm extremely proud of how successful this event has been. Its popularity was greatly down to the exclusive access we provided to the Gherkin, which was thanks to the NSPCC London Business Group."
"I'd also like to thank everyone who took part; the money raised will be going towards our Child's Voice Appeal, which exists to maintain and grow the NSPCC's helplines, both the ChildLine service and the NSPCC Helpline."
Between April 2008 and March 2009 more than 10,000 people from London called the NSPCC Helpline because they were worried about a child (includes 0207 and 0208 areas), over 36,000 children were counselled by ChildLine's London base.
