Innocent drivers - attacked for alerting motorists about not having their lights on.

I've recently heard that there are cars deliberately being driven around South East London with their lights off. If a decent motorist flashes them in order to alert them to this fact, they poor hapless motorist will get attacked - I won't say how. This is either very sick, or some kind of joke. Has anyone else experienced anything of this kind.
