For immediate release: 28 August 2009

This Autumn London business people can return to their youth by taking part in the NSPCC City Conker Cup Challenge.  The great battle will commence at 5.30pm on Thursday, 15 October 2009 at the Loose Cannon Club, 13-16 Allhallows Lane, London.  For the young at heart this is a great opportunity to get together in teams of three and engage in a spirited battle to win the much sought after Conker Trophy.

Smith & Williamson, Wilberforce Chambers, Lovells, K&L Gates,  Edwards, Angell, Palmer and Dodge are names of just some of the City firms that have signed up to play their part in ending cruelty to children.  Renowned BBC Sports commentator, John Inverdale will be commentating on the conker matches.

Kevin Perry, Chairman of the NSPCC City Conker Cup committee, said: "With the event just over a month away we are encouraging teams not to miss out on this opportunity to sign up.  This is a great way to have fun with work colleagues, demonstrate conker and team skills and support a charity which is making such a positive difference to so many children."

Laura Burrows from K &L Gates LLP, said: "Many of us have fond memories of playing conker matches in our childhood and this is a great chance to re-live our youth and raise vital funds for the NSPCC.  We are proud to be taking part and look forward to what will be an exciting competition filled with fun, laughter and some fierce competition."

The NSPCC City Conker Cup, sponsored by SABMiller is now in its sixth year.  Team tickets (for three people) cost £180. As part of their team fee, guests will be able to enjoy delicious food and refreshments. Many other activities will also be available on the night including conker golf, a conker raffle, and the opportunity to drink from the conker sculpted ice luge, plus much more. Spectator tickets are also available and cost £30.
