For the 2nd year running, the heavens opened up but Gatley Festival 2008 was a huge success.
From the Festival Organisers:
"The Gatley Festival commitee would like to thank everyone that came out today to show their support, and all of the Paraders, Stall Holders, Fairground rides and the artists who performed in the arena.
A huge thank you goes to all our volunteers who helped with road closures, Collections and the parade and special thanks to solutions SK for working in partnership with the Gatley Festival Committee to plan road closures.
For the second year running the weather played its part but the parade went off in bright sunshine at times and the people of Gatley filled the streets and we managed to get most of the arena acts on in lovely weather as well.
But inevitably the heavens opened and left us and the crowd a little soggy. It is at this point that we must pay homage to the Sandettes who performed in the arena in pouring rain and won many new admirers and friends for their sheer determination to continue when many would have surrendered to the weather.
A massive thank you to everyone for making Gatley Festival 2008 a huge success and if your looking for a date for your new diary this christmas. GATLEY FESTIVAL 5TH JULY 2009. When we will be bigger, better and hopefully dryer."
Paul Turgoose, one of the event organisers said:
"We wont know numbers on money matters until Dave the treasurer has worked his magic but i think we can be fairly confident that finacially it was successful and we will be giving out cheques to local causes in due course."
