Shortly after 2am on Wednesday 1 October 2008, police were called to Woodside Mews, Ladybrook Road, Bramhall following reports of a robbery.
Earlier, around 12.30am the victim had a knock at his flat door, which is in a secure complex.
As he answered the door, two masked men pushed their way in and forced the victim to sit in his living room while they searched his flat.
A number of items were stolen from the flat, including the victim's car keys.
The two offenders left the flat and stole the victim's silver Mercedes worth £50,000.
The offenders are described as wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, both men were tall and well built.
Detective Constable Stephen Warriner from Stockport CID said: "These men burst into the victim's home, using force to get what they wanted.
"This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and we need to find the people responsible.
"I want any local residents to try and remember if they saw two masked men on or near Woodside Mews or if they allowed two men access to the apartment complex or saw a silver Mercedes driving away.
"If you saw anything around the time of the incident please don't hesitate to get in touch."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Stockport CID on 0161 856 9840 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
