A Stockport business has been fined £750 for not being able to prove they had the correct waste collection and disposal arrangements in place.

Elegant Homes UK Ltd, located at 87 Silverdale Road in Gatley was fined at Stockport Magistrates Court on Wednesday 1st October.
The company was prosecuted after it was unable to provide waste transfer notes in relation to waste disposed of at the rear of the property. It had previously been issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice for the offence and when this was not paid, the case was sent to the Magistrates Court.
No representative from the company was present in court and the company was found guilty in its absence. In addition to the £750 fine, Elegant Homes UK Ltd was also ordered to pay court costs of £456.65 and a victim surcharge of £15.
Councillor Stuart Bodsworth, Executive Member for the Environment said: "All businesses are responsible for making sure the waste they produce is disposed of responsibly and correctly. The Law also requires them to keep their records for a minimum of two years. The Council's Area Conditions Officers inspect businesses across the borough and any who do not live up to
their duty of care, will be warned and could receive a Fixed Penalty Notice. If they still don't deal with their waste properly after that, they could find themselves in court as well."
