National School Meals Week 2008

School Meals staff from Stockport Council's wholly owned company, Solutions SK will be doing their bit to promote healthy eating during National School Meals Week (NSMW) 2008.

NSMW week runs from Monday 13th to Friday 17th October and gives schools the opportunity to showcase their own school meals, while celebrating the hard work and dedication put into the service by their professionally trained catering staff.
Throughout NSMW 08 schools in Stockport will be focusing on the nutritional value of the meals prepared by the school catering teams. A series of promotional posters will be displayed in schools with pictures of catering staff bearing the common headline 'IT'S A FACT!' - part of a new national campaign for school meals.
Schools will also be inviting parents/carers, grandparents, local VIP's and guests into their schools to enjoy a school meal with pupils. For more information about this contact the headteacher of your child's school.
A new website has also been created www.lunchtimememories.co.uk which encourages visitors to log on and share their school meal/lunchtime stories with other users of the site.
Councillor Mark Weldon, Executive Member Children & Young People, said: "NSMW 08 is an important week as it gives schools the chance to highlight the hard work that goes into producing every school meal, whether it is for primary pupils or secondary students."
