Stockport is savouring the success of its second ever Food & Drink Festival as the 10 days of fabulous foodie fun across the borough come to an end.

The festival began on 3rd October with a champagne and cake cutting launch with bubbly from Amici, Stockport Express's Restaurant of the Year and slices of homemade cake from Cakes for Occasions.
Councillor Kevin Hogg, Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "Stockport's second Food and Drink Festival has been a huge success. More than 65 events have taken place over the 10 day festival in over 100 venues; including restaurants, delis, cafes, pubs, retailers, churches, parks and heritage attractions."
Some delicious highlights were:
A vibrant Producer's Market saw stalls selling the finest regional foods - freshly baked breads, soups, cheeses and meats - plus hot food to buy. Local celebrity chef Brian Mellor cooked up a storm in the Covered Market Hall with some innovative recipes, all made from local ingredients, whilst a jazz trio entertained the crowds.
A 1970s Cocktail Party celebrating the Life on Mars exhibition at Stockport Art Gallery. More than 100 people attended dressed in suitable retro gear - platform shoes, kipper ties and flares were the order of the day. And of course an appropriate buffet of cheese and pineapple on sticks, vol au vents and martini cocktails were served.
Young chefs from Stockport's twin towns of Beziers in France and Heilbronn in Germany competed against students from Stockport College in a Master Chef style competition; which was then served to paying guest's at l'Ecole Bistro op the Heaton Moor Campus. After a fiercely fought 'cook off', the culinary honours were awarded to French chefs.

The Arden Arms Pub on Millgate, prepared and served a 3 course Cheshire Gala Dinner Evening with ingredients all locally grown or sourced and matched with a selection of Robinson's Beers. Proceeds on the night went to St. Ann's Hospice.
And two free tasting events brought a huge crowd to the Tourist Information Centre and Staircase House in the Market Place; Tourism Tipples saw samples of Robinson's newest bitter 'Chocolate Tom' being served to eager customers and local butchers, Littlewoods brought their homemade cheese and onion pies, pork pies and a steak and ale pie (with beer from 3 Rivers Brewery) for people to taste and buy. They were appropriately served by a 'wench' dressed in Medieval costume
