They faced tough competition from 5 other pubs in Manchester city centre and across Greater Manchester, namely; The Castle, The Crown in Worthington, The Crown Inn on Heaton Lane in Stockport, Bar Fringe and the Marble Arch.
Judges were particularly impressed with the pub's high quality lunchtime menu, excellent hospitality and its range of traditional Robinson's beers.
Licensees, Joe Quinn and Steve King were delighted with the award as it marked another successful year for one of Stockport's favourite town centre pubs. They were nominated last year in the same category, but were pipped at the post by the Tandle Inn Tavern.
Councillor Kevin Hogg, Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "Many congratulations to the Arden Arms. To win this prestigious award is a great achievement and is a testament to the wide range of high quality food and drink venues in Stockport. This is the icing on the cake for Stockport's second successful Food and Drink festival."
Joe Quinn, Licensee of the Arden Arms, added: "I am tremendously proud of the staff at the Arden Arms and how hard they work. I'd particularly like to thank Robinson's Brewery for their backing. It has been great to be part of the Stockport Food & Drink Festival again and I'm really pleased for the organisers that we could end the event on such a high note by winning
Manchester Pub of the Year."
The Gala Dinner is the traditional finale for the Manchester Food & Drink Festival (3rd to 13th October) where the whole of Greater Manchester take part in 10 days of foodie fun. Stockport was no exception with more than 65 events taking place in over 100 venues; including restaurants, delis, cafes, pubs, small retailers, churches, parks and heritage attractions.
The Arden Arms participated in Stockport's Food and Drink Festival by hosting a 3 course dinner using all locally sourced and grown ingredients matched with Robinson's beers.
