Cheadle Hulme Community Bus - 2nd night of bliss!

Julie Wharton (youth worker) & Andy Settle (bus mgr)
On Friday 20th June, some 40 young people flocked to the Cheadle Hulme Community bus in Oak Meadow Park which is now in its 2nd week of its pilot. Girls and boys alike played football, drew caricatures of each other, congregated around the benches in the middle of the park and mingled with each other and the volunteers.
Paul Reddy one of the volunteers said
‘We are starting to build relationships and establish rapport with the young people and next week we will be asking them for feedback as to how they see the Community Bus Project progressing - they are happy to realise that the bus is there for them and it will be interesting to know what they want to happen in the future.'
The community bus is in its pilot stage of providing a meeting point for 13 - 18 year olds, which will continue for a total of 3 more weeks on the next consecutive Fridays on 27th June, 4th and 11th July from 7.30pm to 9pm with a barbecue being planned for the last night.
If you would like to volunteer please contact Paul Reddy on 07801718159 or if you would like more information please contact Julie Wharton on 07866999952 or email annatriantis@aboutmyarea.co.uk
