CHESHIRE have made one change to their side ahead of their next Minor Counties Cricket Association (MCCA) Championship clash with Herefordshire (5-7 July).

Alderley Edge all-rounder Jason Whittaker returns to the team in place of Neston all-rounder Chris Finnegan as Cheshire look to increase their lead at the top of the Western Division with victory at Nantwich Cricket Club.

Top of the Western Division by three points after a fine win away to Berkshire, it's little surprise Cheshire skipper Andy Hall would love his side to claim back-to-back victories as they continue their charge for their first title since 2007.

"Beating Berkshire was a great result for us, but we know we can't rest on that win. We've got to push on and try and pull away at the top of the division," said Hall.

"Herefordshire are a good side and we'll have to play well to beat them, but we've confident because we've come off the back of a good team performance against Berkshire."

And Hall is delighted all-rounder Whittaker is back in the side, a proven competitor at Minor Counties level.

"Jason's a really good player, he can win you a match with bat or ball, so it's good he's available," added Hall.

"We've had a draw and a win so far this season and I've said before that you can't really afford any defeats, so will we have to be on our game against Herefordshire.

"They will want to beat us, but if we perform to our ability we'll fancy our chances of getting a win. It should be a good match."

Regular opening batsman Danny Leech, who plays for Oulton Park, has failed to gain his place back having missed the last two matches due to work commitments.

And that has left the door open for fellow Oulton Park all-rounder Rick Moore to come in and secure a place.

Moore scored two half centuries in the recent Berkshire win and impressed with the ball as well taking four wickets in the match.

There's also a place for Hyde's Chris Tipper who impressed on his county debut with a fine innings of 81 in that Berkshire victory, achieved with only three balls to spare.

Meanwhile, Herefordshire have made a number of changes to their side which lost to Cornwall in their last Western Division outing.

Bridgenorth batsman David Exall keeps his place having scored 144 runs without being dismissed in that match, but Henry Langford is replaced by Dorridge's Richard Hall.

Will Rudge is unavailable and has been replaced by Frocester debutant James Shackleton, while Smethwick's Faisal Shahid returns to the team after injury.
