A series of events will be held across Stockport to support national 'Not in My Neighbourhood Week' from Monday 13th to Friday 17th October.

The key aims of 'Not in My Neighbourhood Week' are as follows:
- To inform local people of the work being carried out in their community tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.
- To make the area safer, increase public confidence in their local crime reduction partnership, police and other community safety stakeholders.
- To encourage more of the public to play their part in local community safety initiatives.
Four Neighbourhood Consultation Events are planned for the week. These are the first stage in a rolling programme of similar events to be held in every area in Stockport over the coming year. These provide an opportunity for local residents in partnership with key agencies to establish priorities for their neighbourhoods. These consultation meetings are free to attend and refreshments will be provided.
The Safer Stockport Partnership and community based groups across the borough will be hosting a range of events, which includes the following:
- Adswood Community Consultation Event on Tuesday 14th October between 7.00pm and 9.00pm at Adswood Youth Centre, Neston Grove.
- Cheadle Heath Community Consultation Event on Wednesday 15th October between 7.00pm and 9.00pm at Cheadle Heath Club (Hoylake), Hoylake Road.
- North Reddish Community Consultation Event on Wednesday 15th October between 7.00pm and 9.00pm at North Reddish Park Community Centre.
- High Lane Community Consultation Event on Thursday 16th October between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at High Lane Village Hall.
Some of the other events include:
- A series of Community Roadshows will be held in conjunction with the Police and Fire Service providing information and advice to residents.
- Stockport Homes will be conducting a number of Estate Walkabouts and Clean Up events.
- The Safer Stockport Partnership will also be supporting the State of the Area Committee Events planned throughout the week.
Councillor Sue Derbyshire, Executive Member for Communities, said: "The latest figures show that there has been an 18% decrease in crime across the borough for 2007/08 which is an impressive achievement by the Safer Stockport Partnership.
"I would urge residents to come along to these events and learn about the work which is being carried out in the community to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and make the borough an even safer place."
Superintendent Alison Fletcher from the Stockport Division of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Neighbourhood policing was introduced to put police back into the heart of communities to work together with the local communities in targeting crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.
"I would encourage residents to come along to the events and initiatives planned in 'Not in My Neighbourhood Week' and help police and partners plan priorities to successfully tackle issues that matter most to the communities."
