Counties Complete Clean Sweep in America!

England RU Counties completed an unbeaten three-match tour of America and Canada when they beat a Canada Select XV 31-6 in storm-tossed Chatham-Kent, South Ontario.
The match was in danger of being cancelled due to bad weather. A lighting storm just before the scheduled kick off meant the game was delayed and play wasn't able to start until the storm had passed. The result of which meant the game was cut to 30 minutes each way.
The game saw 4 off the 6 Manchester players in the starting line up with full back Ben Coulbeck getting in on the score sheet with a try in his 3rd game of the tour. All 6 Manchester players were involved in the match with centre Andre Wilson and No 8 Seb Moss coming off the bench in the second half.
Counties Coach and Manchester's DoR Dave Baldwin was pleased with both the match and the tour. "Given the conditions and the calibre of the Canada side, which included four players from the Churchill Cup squad, I thought we did really well. They're a great bunch, they've worked hard to weld themselves into a team and they've also shown real spirit and determination when the pressure has come on. To score 14 tries in three games and concede only one is a testament to how hard they've worked both in matches and on the training pitch. This was a fitting end to another fine tour and I'm sure another batch of players will return to their clubs as better players."
