Young people are invited to a special task day at Reddish Vale Country Park from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Saturday 4th October.
The event is aimed at those aged 13 to 19 in the local area who would like to get more involved with improving their local park and nature reserve. The day has been organised by a team of young people at the Reddish Vale Youth Centre in conjunction with the staff at Reddish Vale Country Park.
Aims of the day include encouraging young people to get involved with the sport of fishing and to improve fishing facilities by helping the wildlife habitat in the fishing pond areas and the creation of new fishing pegs. This is also a good opportunity for young people who either regularly fish at or visit the park to contribute to its value as a nature reserve and fishing facility.
Young people will also be able to gain experience in organising an event and carrying out outdoor conservation work.
Councillor Shan Alexander, Executive Member for Leisure, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for local young people to try something new, gain valuable experience and meet other young people in their area."
Meet at Reddish Vale Visitor Centre at 10.00am.
Refreshments and equipment will be provided, however participants are asked to bring a packed lunch and wear suitable outdoor clothing.
