The Gatley Festival Review and Photos
Last Sunday despite the dire weather several hundred parade goers including the About My Area/SK8 team assembled during a downpour at Kingsway High School undeterred to march through the streets of Gatley onto the field at Hill Top House. It would seem that the weather was going to take pity on the paraders as a glorious sun peaked out and shone beautifully over the long line of the Festival Parade drying out and warming everyone up, as the parade wound its way, waved and cheered on by a joyful public.

But then, after the day's festivities began on Gatley Hill began, the weather changed to frequent heavy showers with patches of sunshine between.

Eventually after running for cover under the gazebos and the trees, and then ducking out warily to enjoy the fair and the entertainment several times, the festival public gradually succumbed to the atrocious weather and hastily left as the festivities came to a grinding halt. But not before the bravest of the brave with true grit steeled themselves and walked the stalls and applauded the entertainers. Colin Owen, parade organiser on Gatley Festival Committee said "despite the awful weather , hundreds of local residents turned out on to the streets to see the biggest and brightest parade for years in Gatley. They went on to see fantastic local entertainment on Gatley Hill. It is a pity the weather won in the end and cut our festival short without the crowds seeing two great bands ,The Astroband, who are well established and The Change of State, a group of teenagers from Gatley, whose band have a promising future".
