Prospectvale Primary School's Murals

The mural upgrades to two of Prospectvale Primary School's toilet blocks (in Heald Green) were completed on Tuesday, 29th January at 1.30pm by the artist Colin Rispin, ‘Kidzart' of Heaton Chapel.
The colourful murals had been designed by all the pupils with the School Council co-ordinating the project.
The theme chosen by the girls was ‘Inside the sea' and by the boys ‘Space'.
The toilets look bright and colourful, and it has been said that much anti social behaviour stems from dire looking loos in our schools throughout the country, but at Prospectvale Primary in Heald Green the children and their parents love their new look toilets!
Your editor was met by four children, who were representatives from the School Council, and they explained that they hold discussions amongst themselves and with the Schools staff as to what they like or are not happy about.

The children were clearly very proud of their collective team approach, and that they - the pupils themselves had designed and painted the initial pictures which the artist Colin Rispin then replicated within the murals.
Joe Lawless the school's headmaster said "I've informed the parents about the refurbishment and they've been popping in to see the artwork. My aim was to make the toilets as aesthetically pleasing as the rest of the school and a place where the children didn't dislike entering. It has been successful on all counts and it is very pleasing that the images are the pupils' own".
