| Published: 6th August 2008 12:51 |
Stockport Council is working with Winning Pitch to introduce the innovative Winning Business Academy to companies in the borough.
The Winning Business Academy meets and advises entrepreneurs that have a desire to grow their businesses. Delivered through motivational masterclasses, personalised one to one support and online learning resources, the programme will deliver practical and results based interventions that are proven to deliver growth. It is supported by leading UK organisations and the University of Manchester Incubator Company (UMIC) and one of the "Skills for Growth" initiatives recommended by the Institute of Directors.
Stockport Council will provide 50% of the cost for 15 companies within Stockport that have a desire to grow. The Academy is an effective vehicle for enhancing current business support and will help drive entrepreneurial activity of both new and existing businesses in the region as well as increasing levels of entrepreneurial activity within the borough. The aim is to deliver breakthrough results for ambitious entrepreneurs that want to build a bigger and better future.
Councillor Kevin Hogg, Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "If you are a forward-thinking Stockport business looking to grow and build a long-term, value-added sustainable business, this programme could be for you. This is a great opportunity for companies to make the most of the support offered by the Council and really benefit from this exciting initiative."

Peter Gaunt, Managing Director at Winning Pitch, added: "Over the last 2 years the Winning Business Academy has helped 398 companies grow. We surveyed a large proportion of these and they are looking forward to an average growth of 136% over the next 3 years."
