3. Matters Arising
Resurfacing is to be carried out at the A34 junction over 10 consecutive nights from the 21st of July between 8pm and 1am. Each side of the A34 will be closed as it is resurfaced and traffic will operate as a contraflow. Once the resurfacing is completed a left turn filter to allow traffic to turn left from Gatley towards Manchester will be set up to run at the same time as traffic turning right from Manchester towards Gatley. The longer term aim of adding right turn filters to aid traffic leaving Cheadle and Gatley is dependent on future agreement from the Highways Agency and Greater Manchester Urban Traffic Control. New lane signage will be put in place along with the resurfacing.
The bollards at Old Rectory Gardens should be installed in August. KR to find out dates.
Resurfacing work has been carried out at Ashfield Crescent and is due to be carried out at Eden Place and Mary Street.

Homewatch is in the process of being re-established.
5. Green Space Update
JL reported that the Brooklyn Park opening was a great success. Around 200 people came altogether. Activities included art and a tree identification walk. More people are now using the park. A query was raised about whether it would be feasible to have a local resident locking and unlocking the park. JL said he would enquire but explained that such a responsibility would also entail asking people to leave the park at night.
At Abney Hall there has been some vandalism with a couple of small trees being felled and fencing and a bench set on fire. This has been reported to the police. The orchard is doing well with fruit growing. A replacement bridge has been installed near the pond and repairs have been made to the bridge near the hall.
AM asked if there are plans to remove the fishing pegs from the pond following the decision taken by the Environment Agency that the pond is not suitable for fishing. Fishing is still taking place and birds have been seen with lines around their necks. KR to report.
The baskets and tiered planters are now in place. One set of brackets has been damaged and a replacement set has been ordered.
Discussion took place about improving Cheadle Green. The group reiterated their desire to see improvements made and expressed disappointment that the Council does not have the funding available to carry out such improvements. It was explained that setting up some type of Friends Group means that external funding can be applied for. KR explained that once there is a full complement of staff in the Parks Development team it is hoped that work can commence on developing a plan for Cheadle Green.
6. Cheadle District Centre Steward / district centre maintenance update
The temporary steward currently in post is called Malcolm.
