Local PC David Vose tells Gatley Community Meeting that crime is down in Gatley
At the Gatley Community Meeting on Tuesday 22nd July PC Vose said that overall crime in Gatley for the past 12 months has been reduced and gave the following % reduction statistics:-
- Serious wounding 96%
- Home Burglaries 30%
- Other Burglary 66%
- Robbery 22%
- Motor Vehicle 36%
- Criminal Damage 60%
Currently the police are conducting various operations within the Gatley area which include Operation Antidote (which runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and Operation Refrectory (which runs Monday to Sunday including nights), both of which are providing outstanding results. Stockport as a whole has been recognised as having some of the best crime reduction results in the country.
After debating issues with some 35 residents, the following areas were deemed to be top priority for the police over the next couple of months
- Move the bus stop for the school bus on Foxlands.
- Look into CCTV for above road
- Gatley Carrs
- Cut through Halstead Grove
- Anti - social behaviour at the Spa
The next meeting could be either in 3 or 6 months (tbc)and this may be organised to coincide as a back to back meeting with the Gatley Village Partnership meeting at Hill Top House
