1. Apologies and Introductions
Apologies were received and all those present introduced themselves.
2. Notes of meeting on Thursday 3rd of July
Accepted as a correct record.
3. Election of Chair
CO explained that he is going to withdraw from his nomination for Chair as he is likely to be undertaking some work for the Labour Party over the forthcoming year. The Terms of Reference of the Gatley Village Partnership state that the group is a non-political organisation and for this reason Colin has decided to withdraw in order to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
4. Matters arising from the last meeting and progress on ongoing issues
KR provided the following updates from Muhammad Tayyab, the Area Conditions Officer, following his attendance at the previous meeting.
A query was raised about how often the bins in Gatley are emptied. MT supplied a list of bins in the centre along with details of when they are emptied. He is monitoring the bins on Foxland Road and Beech Avenue as he has witnessed them overflowing recently. He has arranged for them to be emptied and has spoken to operations about improving the situation. Those present reported that the bins in the Memorial Park and on the Village Green need to be emptied more regularly. It was also reported that the dog waste bins on Scholes Field are full. KR to report.
There are no immediate plans to increase the number of households that receive blue bins at present. This is due to operational capacity. If people want to discuss this issue they can contact the Recycling Officers on 0161 218 1493.
MT has sent photos of the rubbish around the substation at the Red Lion to United Utilities. They replied to him on the 17th of September to confirm that they will be clearing the litter.
5. Former Tatton Cinema site
DF reported that the Council has received lots of responses from local people and businesses during the planning application's consultation period. The Council has asked that the applicants supply more information before the application process can progress.
Cllr MJ explained that he has put together a document detailing why the application is not valid and reiterated the fact that he has declared his position as being opposed to the application. Cllr BM explained that he has not declared his position and is therefore unable to discuss the application in any detail.
6. Gatley Skate Park evaluation report
DF expressed disappointment that the report that was submitted to Cheadle Area Committee did not make any recommendations about the long term future of the skate park. Cllr BM said that another report could be requested that addresses the issue of whether it should stay or go.
7. Work at A34 crossroads
Cheadle Area Committee have agreed to remove the right hand turn that had been allowed to buses travelling on the A34 northbound and then eastbound towards Cheadle Village. They have also agreed new road markings for the northbound A34 beyond the junction.
Those present agreed that the new junction is a great improvement. Cllr BM explained that Stockport Council will continue to negotiate with the Highways Agency to try and achieve the long term aim of providing right turn filters.
8. Police update and crime in Gatley
No police representative attended the meeting.
Cllr MJ reported that crime levels have been low in Gatley over recent months. There were two break ins last month.
Cllr BM agreed to enquire about the possibility of holding future Gatley Village Partnership meetings in conjunction with the Police Community Involvement meetings.
9. Remembrance Sunday
No representatives from Gatley's churches were able to attend the meeting but those present agreed that it would be desirable for the services to be coordinated.
10. Christmas events
MT of Gatley United Reformed Church sent an update on their Christmas services and events. Father Christmas will be at Gatley URC on the last Saturday in November. There will be carols in the park on Christmas Eve at 4.00pm and a Christingle Service at Gatley URC on Christmas Eve at 5.00pm.
KR reported that once again the thirteen snowflake motifs will be hanging from lighting columns throughout Gatley. There will also be lights in the trees on Gatley Green as well as a Christmas tree.
DF to liaise with traders about the possibility of them providing more lights and decorations on the shop fronts.
11. Update from local groups
TB reported that they now have the rats under control in Walter Stansby Memorial Park. Another tree needs to be taken down as there are too many sycamore trees in the park and more light is needed for the nursery.
Gatley Carrs Conservation Group have produced and distributed a leaflet.
Gatley Festival raised money this year and CO asked people to think of any good causes in the village that could receive a donation. It is hoped that a whole week of events can take place next year.
12. Any other business
Cllr MJ reported that work is to be carried out to remake the banking and the gulley in Scholes Field. This work will result in the water being able to flow more efficiently and subsequently it will not pick up as much rubbish.
It was asked whether tree pruning could be carried out on Oakwood Avenue and Elm Road. KR to report.
The spate of illegal car sales in Gatley has been reported.
A prosecution is underway concerning the A-board on the A34.
KR informed the group that this would be her last partnership meeting as she is leaving Stockport Council on the 11th of October. KR wished the group well for the future and explained that one of her colleagues would attend the next meeting.
13. Date of next meeting
The date of the next meeting will be Thursday the 8th of January at 6.45pm

PROGRESS ON UNRESOLVED ISSUES
Review of parking in Gatley Village
The Gatley Village Partnership has requested that a review of on/off street parking be undertaken and that no further changes to any parking restrictions within Gatley be carried out until such a review is completed. No progress - action required. KR to speak to relevant committee clerk for update on progress
Investigate the feasibility of making Church Road one-way The Gatley Village Partnership has requested that the possibility of making Church Road one-way be reinvestigated and considered alongside a review of parking. No progress - action required. KR to speak to relevant committee clerk for update on progress
Review of Gatley skate park facility
It was agreed that once the skate park had been in place for a year a report would be compiled detailing its use and any issues that have arisen. The report is to include data collected from the police and Council services such as Parks and Recreation and the Community Safety Unit Report presented to Cheadle Area Committee in May.
Cllr BM to request a further report on whether or not it should continue as a facility
