Cheadle Area Committee Meeting
| Published: 2nd June 2008 23:51 |
At the Cheadle Area Committe meeting last week on the 27th May, Cllr Peter Burns was elected to new chair and Cllr Brian Millard as vice chair whilst the issues that required most debate during the meeting were 2 development applications and a report regarding approval of a 25 year lease on council land for use by the Cheshire Jewish Primary School.
Development Applications
DC/030517 10 & 12 Greenbank Road, Gatley
The applicant seeked to remove condition 6 of DC023872 which requires that at least 1 of the occupiers of each of the flats is at least 60 years old.
The highways engineer strongly advised committee to remove the above condition. A site visit was proposed so that main planning committee can review and take a decision on the 19th June 6pm at the town Hall.
DC/030521 Land bounded by Old Wool Lane, Cheadle golf Course and Micker Brook
This application seeks Outline planning permission for the demolition of the existing commercial buildings on the site and the erection of a three storey 90 bedroom care home and two storey 32 bedroom specialised care unit. Applicant was seeking approval of Layout and Access only.
Issues were raised regarding peripheral recreation routes, a large building being planned outside of the immediate site whilst one smaller unit being inside site - could these be swapped? Also how would some residents get access to their homes whilst a nearby bridge was being repaired? If committee does not grant approval, the developer will possibly revert to using site for commercial and industrial use.
Committee suggested that Cllr Porgess and Cllr Whitehead who are also on the Planning committee do a site visit and work closely with the Highways to make a constructive recommendation including the above debated issues relating to recreation routes, swap planned larger building for smaller one inside the boundary and to ensure there is plenty of access for affected residents whilst the bridge is being repaired. Members of the public were told they could attend the 19th June 6pm meeting at the Town Hall to hear decision but that no objections would be allowed at that stage.
Report on Land adjoining Cheshire Jewish primary school, St Ann's Road North, in Heald Green was debated. This report requested that a proposal to grant a lease in respect of council land for 25 years be discussed. Committee agreed to this subject to the terms of the lease coming through to the committee prior to sign off and this to be delegated to chair with involvement from Managing Director of Norfolk Property Services in Stockport.
Next meeting will be Tuesday 1st July 2008 at the Ladybridge Residents Club in Cheadle Hulme at 6pm
